Plan for a low-carbon

EnergyPATHWAYS is a sophisticated bottom-up energy planning tool, with physical representations of all infrastructure that produces, consumes, and delivers energy.

Energy system transformation.

EnergyPATHWAYS was built to investigate transitions to low carbon energy systems and calculates emissions, energy flows, costs, and other important factors.

This model has been used by U.S. states, national laboratories, public utilities, NGOs, and private corporations. It was the basis for the U.S. Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project studies, and has been expanded for international use.

How do I use EnergyPATHWAYS?

This web application allows users to create novel energy scenarios to 2050 for the U.S. It also displays built-in scenarios of technology pathways to U.S. mid-century emission targets.

1Create Energy Scenarios

The process of creating a new energy scenario is quick and painless, consisting of dropdown boxes representing actions in taken in the energy system.

2Calculate New Models

Once created, the model will take multiple hours to run due to the size and scope of the calculations.

3Join Energy Pathways

Because of the required computational resources, a log-in is necessary to start creating new energy scenarios and can be obtained by emailing
